The 21-year-old said he hopes his story inspires others to open up about their identity.
"I didn't expect for people to reach out like they did, I expected some support, but the support I received is global and it's been from clubs, from leagues, from the premier league… it's just been absolutely phenomenal," he told Sky News Australia. "It just makes me realise why I've been hiding a lie for so long and it's something that I don't wish upon anyone but I hope that through my story I inspire others and show that it's okay to be who you are no matter what you believe in, what you like, where you come from, football is a game for everyone and everyone is welcome.
