A man who assaulted Nine's Europe Correspondent Sophie Walsh has pleaded guilty in court after being charged by police in the United Kingdom. 9News

Europe Correspondent Sophie Walsh has been assaulted during a live television cross in London by a man making motions to stab her.

"This random guy grabbed me from behind... He started punching me, the only way I can describe it is sort of stabby motions," Walsh later said. The man approached her and yelled the words "Allah Akbar"."I don't think anyone knows the sound of their true scream until they're in a situation like that where they feel like it's a life or death scenario," she said.

She has been reporting on protests that have sparked up in the United Kingdom and Europe in light of the demonstrations and riots in the United State after the death of African American man George Floyd at the hands of Minneapolis police officers. Hours after the assault on Ms Walsh another Nine reporter, Ben Avery, and his camera operator, Cade Thompson, were forced to outrun an angry mob after they were confronted while on-air.

He and Thompson bolted towards a large group of police outside parliament house and they helped get the security guard to safety.

The banner on the picture showing Sophie Walsh assaulted in the UK indicates: Protests turn ugly in Paris. This can lead to confusion. Still, I feel very sorry to what happened to Sophie and thought she reacted pretty well. Thank you.

m_alwahwah he yelled 'Akha Akbar'

Didn’t hear him say allahu Akbar, didn’t see any attacks but heard her screaming and she did mention he was unarmed so we did the screw driver come from and the word allahu Akbar as I said you can hear her screaming but can’t hear the person that was attacking her strange isn it.

Ya didnt show the action happenin, how convenient

Good work Sophie. Hope your ok

Was it a right wing, white Trump supporter ? No, an Islamic African black immigrant part of the peaceful BLM march. BlackLivesMatter

'George Floyd Protests'? He yelled allahu akbar, FFS!!!

Good to hear

I’m surprised you guys didn’t apologise to him for being in his way. Allah snack bar will get another free ride here.

Media gold, the soap operas the thirty gullibles lap up.

That is fantastic news. We are so sorry for some of my our populations actions. The rioters were not the protesters. I hope Sophie is ok now?

You put yourself in harm’s way what do you want sympathy? Get out of the area next time.

What about all the shop owners who have been beaten up? Left wing reporters deserve what they get, they have made the situation worse. Report on serious issues not on yourselves you bunch of snowflakes.

Charged for what 9 have bet this story up. What a drama queen. Where is the footage?

They’ll let him out again.

So what's his name? why didn't we hear him yelling 'Admiral Snackbar'? why did the camera man keep filming her afterwards like nothing happened? why didn't he say something?...anything, or help? why didn't he pan around? Why did we cut to a shot of some random guy being arrested? Not reported by any news channel in the UK. Any update on the police in Washington dc who attacked our Aussie journalists and cameraman? Would be happy to hear the same for them.

George Floyd protests: Second Nine reporter ambushed in LondonA second Nine reporter has been attacked while reporting on protests over the death of US man George Floyd. 9News Post-9/11, it was clear that journalists could no-longer guarantee their safety in potentially dangerous situations merely by asserting they were journalists.
