Billionaire software developer and philanthropist Mike Cannon-Brookes has set aside $12 million to install as many as 100 stand-alone solar and battery units in 100 days to provide off-grid power to hard-hit bushfire communities

.

"I would love it if we can get 100 units up in 100 days," he said. "It's a matter of finding the sites and getting people engaged. We've proven we can do it now." Costs of electricity will fall by between 20 and 50 per cent, Mr Cannon-Brookes said, adding the units should be able to operate for 20 years. In a year's time, "we'll work out what you want to do with it," he said, with purchasing the systems one option. "This is not a for-profit exercise for us ... There's a movement of speed here that's really, really important.

God bless him!

Awesome

Yay👏👏👏💕

He could also develop a drone network to look after the bushfire catastrophic conditions days. Imagine 200 drones with heat sensor cameras looking after Australia. If the Firies get there early, they will get on top of the fires much easier!

So practical for those who benefit and as means of educating the public, and maybe even shame Govt to stil yp needed practical assistance

SeanBradbery South's supporter, he'll get it done.

berniepeoples What a bloody positive thing to do with your millions by actually helping people.... well done Sir! .....

berniepeoples What is the Morrison Government doing ? Anything ? bushfires LNPFail

For the critics, what do you propose to offer or do to help? Were you affected by fires personally? I was. Battery backup would have helped. Anyway, I appreciate a philanthropist with concerns about the environment and strategic vision.

alias_burgerboy Great project many thanks

What a champion

Keep on hearing he’s giving away millions and coming up big green ideas, has anything happened yet?

Wonderful! 👍 I ask what is the Government's 2 billion dollar fund being spent on re-building communities right now?

Good on him.

He could claim it as a tax write-off, if he paid any tax.

This Russel Crowe wannabe is the king of virtue signalling. Keep your money mate, we want reliable baseload power not temporary, unreliable power.

Seems like governments were just made to help in these ways....
