South Africa's Transport Ministry confirms 45 passengers killed, one child survivor, after bus crashes off bridge and caught fire
According to Transport and Community Safety, the vehicle was travelling on a bridge between the villages of Marken and Mokopane, north of Johannesburg, on Thursday. Miraculously, an eight-year-old girl survived the incident. Their exact condition is not known, but they are receiving treatment at a nearby hospital, authorities said.
The confirmation of the citizenship of the victims will only begin when"foreign missions" from South Africa and Botswana verify the nationalities."Some bodies were burned beyond recognition, others trapped inside the debris and others scattered on the scene," a Transport and Community Safety statement read.
