Heather Cudmore has been working as an RFDS flight nurse for six years.
"You also carry with you the things that affect you personally, whether that's because you make a real connection with someone that you're looking after or whether it's because you may have someone that's a similar age to one of your own children.Last year the RFDS completed more than 10,000 patient transfers in WA.
"It's always challenging moving little tiny people who have little airways and little tubes and there's risks involved in moving them because of the risk of them being dislodged or getting kicked off."It's a demanding day but it's really good to be able to move someone like that to a higher level of care, and I hope that he and his mum have made a full recovery.
"We've also been very involved with the vaccination program throughout regional WA. We've vaccinated more than 11,000 people in regional and remote WA."While the RFDS experienced unprecedented demand last year, it also expanded its fleet.
Literally a life saver. They do so much more than most people realise. Thankyou for all you do and the many people that you help.
