Sky News host Alan Jones says it is clear now Sweden and Taiwan got it right in their coronavirus response, by looking after the vulnerable and elderly, practicing good hygiene but at the same time "letting the rest get on with their lives". Mr Jones said prestigious academics have suggested COVID-19 would have made little difference in the world had it not been noticed in the first place.
Mr Jones noted the words of Stanford Professor John Ioannidis who wrote, “If we had not known about a new virus out there, and had not checked individuals with PCR tests, the number of total deaths due to "influenza like illness" would not seem unusual this year.” Mr Jones spoke with the Australian’s Adam Creighton about the matter.

Sorry Alan but Sweden has a high death rate per 1 million. 80% of those deaths were in (so called) care homes. Avoid care homes in Sweden, where nurses can’t administer oxygen without a Dr’s approval and COVID from care homes can’t be sent to hospital.

Massive resources were deployed in January. Masks mandated in January. Taiwan gives 2 masks per adult & 3 masks per child per week. They pay for & to be in quarantine, buy food & medicines & drop them off. Specially trained cleaners in hazmat suits.

Taiwan got it under control very early because they took hundreds of precautions including comprehensive screening and tracking, quarantining of incoming travellers, etc. Sweden has a far higher mortality figure than any of its neighbors.
Sweden was getting an average of 100 deaths per day back in May and their economy has still retracted about 40%.
