Opposition Leader Anthony Albanese has declared at the party’s official campaign launch in Perth that a Labor government will help people achieve the “great Australian dream of homeownership”.

“Today, I am proud to announce a new policy that will reward the hard work and support the aspirations of more Australians, a plan to help more working families realise the dream of owning their own home,” he said on Sunday.

“For too long Australians who have worked hard have been locked out of the housing market by flat wages and rising prices, unable to even get a foot in the door let alone a roof over their heads. “A Labor government will create a new help to buy program, a national shared equity scheme, that will provide an equity contribution from the Commonwealth for 10,000 aspiring homeowners on low and middle incomes each and every year.

“If you have saved two per cent of your deposit, we will contribute up to 40 per cent of the purchase price of a new home or 30 per cent of an existing home. “Help to buy will assist Australian to buy a home with a smaller deposit, a smaller mortgage and smaller mortgage repayments.”

That was achieved in the past by hard work but I guess that’s not politically correct anymore

Well for 10000 only. Labor still do not understand intetest rates. They are set by the RBA, an independent body not govt related. Petrol is the other one. Petrol is determined by global markets not the govt. Just proves how irresponsible the AustralianLabor is on economy

But the commonwealth will always own 30-40% of the property… “Home buyers under the scheme will have the option of taking additional equity in the property over the life of the home loan. They will not have to pay rent on the proportion of the house owned by the commonwealth.”

How?

By letting you pay the house off and taking the equity.

I like his home ownership scheme. It might give my partner and myself a chance.

Albo will be a great pm It's time to clean up Australia

That dream was your grandparents. People just want secure employment

Sounds a lot like the old Homefund scheme from the 1990’s and those of us that lived through it know how disastrous that was. Some still haven’t recovered.

This is what unchecked immigration by successive traitorus Labor and Liberal government politicians has brought to Aust. An enemy within. It's important that Aust votes independent on May 21. Take Australia back after decades of treason, and Covid mandates abuse.

OMG can’t these politicians lie promise the world hand you a grain of sand and pilfer you paycheque with “taxes” by 50% and greater petrol tax GST import Duty Tax administration taxes it’s endless
