A trove of relics that offer new clues about the ancient Mayan civilisation have been discovered inside a sealed ‘ritual cave’ undisturbed for thousands of years.

Believed to have been sealed for 1000 years, the secret site contained more than 150 different objects including incense burners, plates and bowls – with many having a representation of the god of water, Tlaloc. Archaeologists reportedly had to crawl for hours on their stomachs through narrow passages in order to reach the hidden ritual chambers.

'Our political system is broken': Julian Burnside runs for Greens against Josh FrydenbergProminent human rights lawyer Julian Burnside QC will run against Treasurer Josh Frydenberg in his Melbourne seat of Kooyong at the next federal election. I am over these stupid one-liners 'Our political system is broken...' what a load of rubbish does he have nothing better to say. If the system was broken he would not get the opportunity to run. Maybe answer some real questions and stop offering political media fodder. It is broken - both Frydenberg and Burnside are proof of that. Include the ABC in this, both broken & playing politics.

Doubters’ outcry over Pell verdict disrespectful to jury, legal systemIt is extraordinarily disrespectful to the jury members who, after weighing all the evidence, listening to all the testimony, came to the conclusion that he was guilty | Peter_Fitz Peter_Fitz Jury’s are usually made up of suburbia slobs and morons who wouldn’t survive if Darwinism was in place. Often poorly educated and simpletons. This is why barristers choose the jury’s they choose - so they can manipulate the verdict they want out of these simpletons on the jury. Peter_Fitz I am not defending George Pell...I dont even know the evidence against him - but what are you saying? The courts never get it wrong ever? Are the courts an infallible judicial system that will always get it right? Peter_Fitz So you get 12 people ,which have had media bias against Pell thrown down their throats for 30 years and expect them to come up with a judgement that isn’t biased
