Josh Frydenberg has promised Victoria all the help it requires from the Commonwealth after the state was plunged into a further six weeks of economic uncertainty

He said the federal government had injected more than $10 billion into the Victorian economy from the JobKeeper program and the cash flow boost during the past three months, as well as Australian Defence Force personnel and Commonwealth public servants to provide logistical and frontline health support.

Asked on Tuesday if he believed the JobKeeper plan should be extended, Mr Andrews said he was confident Mr Morrison understood there would be different forms of hardship in different parts of the country."Where there is hardship you have to have a response that is appropriate to that."The Victorian Chamber of Commerce and Industry warned the state’s businesses would suffer and some would permanently close as a result of the six-week lockdown.

"Businesses in metropolitan areas that have only just reopened and started to trade again will now be forced to either close or return to the reduced operations they had in place before restrictions were eased,” Mr Guerra said.Tim Piper, the Victorian head of the national employer association Ai Group, said businesses did not have an on-off switch that "can be flicked without the danger of turning out the lights permanently".

If the British government were so decisive, we'd probably have saved the lives of thousands of Britons The worst part is , people suspect, the British government is going to blame others & not take responsibility! Like Dan's great leadership? Really admire how the Victorian govt in Australia take such quick decisive actions. If the British govt were so quick & lockdown the UK earlier, we'd probably have saved 1,000s of lives. Worst part is,people suspect, our govt is going to blame others & not accept responsibility.
