A new report has recommended the state look into the feasibility of retiring all remaining performing dolphins in NSW to a sea sanctuary.

The report into the use of exotic animals in circuses and the exhibition of cetaceans in New South Wales was released today by the NSW Upper House Committee.

The three remaining performing bottlenose dolphins reside at Dolphin Marine Conservation Park in Coffs Harbour on the NSW mid north coast.Bucky, a rescued dolphin who lived at the Dolphin Marine Conservation Park.

The report also noted the Dolphin Marine Conservation Park had put forward a proposal for a sea sanctuary along with two animal welfare organisations – Actions for Dolphins and World Animal Protection.
