Queensland Senator Matt Canavan said that the only place wind and solar are cheaper than nuclear energy is on 'planet economist' as he accused the Prime Minister of being wedded to an anti-nuclear obsession from the 1980s.

Speaking to Sky News Australia’s Andrew Bolt, Senator Canavan said that despite the continual claims that renewables were a cheaper form of energy than nuclear, the real-world evidence showed otherwise.

“Back on planet Earth, those countries that are relying on nuclear energy have much, much lower electricity prices than those countries that have put all their chips on solar and wind energy.” “Some of your viewers might remember that Germany has made a big song and dance of having this… green energy plan for the last decade,” the Nationals senator said.
