Anthony Albanese has flagged a possible domestic gas reservation as he delivers a serious warning to the sector over its ongoing backlash against the government’s “modest” market intervention.

despite immense backlash from the gas industry and the Coalition.

Prime Minister Anthony Albanese rejected the suggestion his"modest" market intervention would drive down investment in the gas market. Picture: Sky News Australia “If investment was good prior to 2021 based upon that price then the higher price that’s allowed by this temporary measure that we put in should do nothing whatsoever to inhibit investment.

When asked if the government would consider copying the measure already in place in Western Australia, Mr Albanese said he would “fashion reform” around avoiding “unintended consequences”. Mr Albanese also took the opportunity to deliver a parting blow to the Coalition which failed to push the government to split its energy price bill.

Wish we had good interviewers in this country. Interviewers without agendas willing to research then ask the hard questions. That's how these polllies have been allowed to act in an uncontrolled manner.

'modest' LOL A cap and agreeing to Greens policy of taking out gas altogether. Why am I surprised the word lying hypocrite simply has now lost its strenght?

The 'Grubs', sell off our power, sell off our gas, sell off our farming land then try and tell us what to inject into our bodies. Grubs

What's the point of sky? A conservative, yet, pro mass immigration, pro free market disaster. Boycott sky.

Greedy gas companys

Oh now it's a MODEST intervention. Mr Ed is our PM.

was is cheap gas being exported to China and Asia

Big Business will tell AnAl to get stuffed and just cut jobs and production, like the miners did with the mining tax. If you want to control business' like mining and gas exploration, Nationalise them, but you haven't got the balls or nous to do it.

Look.. Australia's Joe Biden... 'Let's go ALBO'

Good job Albo, send a strong message to those greedy bastrds! Theyve been rorting the Aus people for too long!!

PM to meet gas industry but holding firm against threatsAnthony Albanese will speak with bosses before Thursday’s parliamentary vote. However, he is not backing down amid their plans to defer or reduce investment. Good to see AFR return to its roots interested and broadly supportive of business. Any Government that interferes in markets like this raises spectre of regulatory uncertainty which may genuinely hinder future investment. At minimum producers should be compensated PhillipCoorey gas industry is making economic decisions, albo is making idiological decisions Love that Albo and Labor are doing everything they said and promised.
