Anthony Albanese refused to reveal whether he will step down as Labor leader should the Coalition win the election, saying he is 'not planning' for any other outcome than a victory.

Mr Albanese was just one per cent behind in the most recent survey, 42 per cent to 43 per cent, closing the gap between himself and Prime Minister Scott Morrison in the past three Newspolls.

While pre-election polling and betting markets point towards a new prime minister and government, Mr Albanese said Labor"was not getting ahead of ourselves" after the 2019 election. Mr Morrison admitted he would “always accept” the result of the election because he trusts his “fellow Australians”.

PM takes on Labor, super funds, with housing pitchScott Morrison has set up a contest over housing affordability by announcing homebuyers will be able to use up to $50,000 each from their super account to get into the market. No. Financial Review. There is no competition. Australians know using retirement funds to buy housing will send house prices soaring and further damage our economy. We are not stupid. Morrison's nonsense will be ignored. No one will compete. Default on their loan, then lose the home and their super. Now broke, they can go onto the LNP Indue card where they will be a slave to the government. 🤔 The intended consequences are to help rich developers and destroy people's retirement. The lack of vision and unintended consequence is the house price will rise even further (which of course is good for the rich developers)
