|Opposition Leader Anthony Albanese has offered an olive-branch to the government on the supposed ‘climate wars,’ but the Coalition has remained in power partly due to Labor’s “bungled” approach to climate policy, says Sky News host Chris Smith.

The government is unlikely to end the supposed climate wars by “solving Labor’s inadequacies” from a political perspective according to Sky News host Chris Smith. In a step towards bipartisanship, Mr Albanese has moved to abandon the National Energy Guarantee and Clean Energy Target. Mr Albanese has endorsed Prime Minister Scott Morrison’s energy policy but warned, any new government plans will need to accommodate higher emissions reduction targets.

Albanese will be tested to maintain energy bipartisanship by the green-Left | Sky News AustraliaOpposition Leader Anthony Albanese is being realistic on climate policy, but his real test will be the green-Left inside and out of the Labor Party working to make sure he adopts a “radical climate” agenda, Sky News host Chris Kenny says.\n\n“Instead of putting up a carbon tax or a price on carbon that voters have repeatedly rejected, he is now looking to offer mere platitudes and look to find common ground with the government,” Mr Kenny said.\n\nIn a step towards bipartisanship, Mr Albanese has moved to abandon the National Energy Guarantee and Clean Energy Target. \n\nMr Albanese has endorsed Prime Minister Scott Morrison’s energy policy but warned any new government plans will need to accommodate higher emissions reduction targets.\n\n“That's smart, and realistic, but the real test is whether he can keep that position,” Mr Kenny said\n\n“Because the green left activists inside and outside the Labor Party will work day and night to make sure he takes a radical climate police to the next election.”\n\nImage: Getty\n AlboMP Globalisation has literally crippled Australian farming & agricultural sectors and the economy. Albanese 'in real trouble' if Liberals win Eden-Monaro | Sky News AustraliaSky News Political Editor Andrew Clennell says Labor leader Anthony Albanese will be 'in real trouble' if the Liberal Party is successful at the Eden-Monaro by-election. \n\nThe July 4 by-election is expected to be close, with recent polling indicating the Liberal Party is ahead of Labor in the primary vote. \n\nMr Clennell said he believed the Liberal Party was “in with a show”, an outcome he said would put the Labor leader in hot water. \n\n“The more [Scott Morrison] goes there, the more I think the Liberals are a chance,' he said. \n\nWhen asked if he believed Labor’s branch stacking scandal cut through to voters, Mr Clennell said “no”. \n\n“I think they’re disgusted by it, but I think their general view is all politicians are crooks so it’s a taint on both sides,” he said. \n\n“At the end of the day, [voters] are going to be more worried about [their] job than a branch stacking scandal.” aclennell AlboMP I saw several people testifying of making so much money with the help of Gary binary option trading and I decided to give a try and now I'm glad now he helped me to make $15,000 in a week, DM Mr 👉 GaryCom89698109 aclennell AlboMP Stunning insight 😅 aclennell AlboMP Can Labor and Albo be trusted

Albanese 'under pressure' if Labor loses Eden-Monaro | Sky News AustraliaAnthony Albanese’s leadership could be under threat if Labor fails to win the upcoming by-election in the ultra marginal seat of Eden-Monaro, according to Sky News Political Editor Andrew Clennell.\n\nMr Albanese was questioned at a press conference on Tuesday if he is concerned of someone within Labor going for the leadership, should they lose the by-election on July 4.\n\nThe seat of Eden-Monaro was left vacant after Labor MP Mike Kelly retired, citing long-standing health issues.\n\nLabor holds the seat by a wafer thin margin of 0.9 per cent, and internal polling indicates the Liberal candidate is ahead on the primary vote.\n\nMr Clennell said Mr Albanese may be safe for the time being, but only because there is no clear alternative.\n\n“One of the reasons the replacement of Albanese seems so unlikely at the moment is that no one can coalesce on an alternative candidate,” Mr Clennell said.\n\n“The most likely, despite his inexperience, is Shadow Treasurer Jim Chalmers but the prospect of him being elevated is said to irritate the likes of Chris Bowen and Tony Burke who have their own ambitions.\n\n“Tanya Plibersek, one of the most well known in caucus, who is popular with the public but would not be able to get enough votes in caucus.\n\n“So most spoken about is Chalmers and Richard Marles and maybe Joel Fitzgibbon would even run.\n\n“When it comes to the Labor leadership, the argument around which candidate if Albanese falls under this Eden-Monaro bus becomes so circular that you come back to the fact that he is the best option.”\n\nImage: News Corp Australia \n AlboMP aclennell Will Mark Dreyfus go for the leadership, given he hasn’t been appointed as a judge by Chairman Dan Andrews? Albanese attempts to placate Labor's Right ahead of Eden-Monaro by-election | Sky News AustraliaAnthony Albanese’s pledge to work with the government is designed to satisfy members of Labor’s Right who are calling for the opposition to be more vocal about supporting jobs in the coal industry.\n \nSky News Political Editor Andrew Clennell said Mr Albanese’s decision not to commit to a 2030 emission reduction target is an attempt to neutralise the issue ahead of the Eden-Monaro by-election.\n \n'This Anthony Albanese offer to work with the government on climate change and energy policy: It is all about satisfying the members of the Otis group led by (Labor frontbencher) Joel Fitzgibbon,” Mr Clennell said.\n \n“This perhaps is a sign of real concerns by Anthony Albanese about his leadership ahead of the Eden Monaro by-election. \n \n“It might also show you that the polling in Eden Monaro is not all one way in terms of climate change.”\n \n“In October last year, Joel Fitzgibbon gave a speech in which he called on Labor to agree to the government’s 2030 climate change target in a bid to neutralise the issue.”\n \nEarlier this year it emerged a group of right-wing MPs, dubbed as the Otis group after a Canberra restaurant they dined together at, were pushing the party to embrace a softer stance on coal.\n \nMr Clennell said it will be difficult for the major parties to come to a bipartisan agreement on energy policy.\n \n“Fitzgibbon has been like a dog with a bone with this issue since the election when he nearly lost his Hunter seat and the party lost so many Queensland seats because of Adani,” Mr Clennell said.\n \n“There are a couple of bones Albanese has thrown to the Left here – opposing the taxpayer funded Emissions Reduction fund and calling for funding for the Australian Renewable Energy Agency.\n \n“The government for its part will argue today that if you argue as Albanese is that you are opposed to the taxpayer funded emission reduction fund, you must be after some other mechanism to meet targets such as a renewable energy target and a carbon price.”\n AlboMP aclennell Poor albo the right the greens the general public who do I keep happy 🤔🤔 AlboMP aclennell There goes his vote from me AlboMP aclennell Globalisation has literally crippled Australian farming & agricultural sectors and the economy. Daniel Andrews’ restrictions were ‘unduly harsh and unnecessary’ | Sky News AustraliaVictorian Premier Daniel Andrews has been far too consumed with corruption and factionalism within Labor to adequately respond to the growing health crisis in the state, according to Victorian Opposition Leader Michael O’Brien.\n\nVictoria has recently experienced a spike in coronavirus cases with the state recording over 100 current active cases of the virus, forcing the premier to hold off on planned easing of lockdown restrictions.\n\nPremier Andrews has confirmed a further 17 new cases of coronavirus have been diagnosed across the state in the past 24 hours. \n\nMr Andrews said one was from hotel quarantine, two were associated with known outbreaks, three were the subject of routine testing and 11 were still under investigation. \n\n“There’s something very wrong in Victoria when we’ve had the harshest lockdown restrictions of any state in the country, but we’ve got the worst public health results,” Mr O’Brien told Sky News host Chris Kenny.\n\n“Daniel Andrews’ restrictions were unduly harsh and unnecessary”.\n\nThe fact there have been no recorded cases coming from golfing, fishing, or attending cafes and restaurants since the Victorian government lifted restrictions on those activities, shows premier’s attention was “focused on the wrong areas” according to the opposition leader.\n\n“We can’t afford to go back to lockdowns.\n\n“We’re going to lose more lives through mental health issues and suicide if we stay locked down”.\n\nImage: Getty\n DanielAndrewsMP michaelobrienmp LaborRabble DanielAndrewsMP michaelobrienmp “Incompetence” is the word I think you are looking for.
