Childcare workers, dentists, builders and real estate agents among those allowed to get back to work under the second step of Melbourne's restrictions roadmap.

Premier Daniel Andrews said on Monday that the Government was "putting the final touches" on a plan to see more tests conducted in high-risk industries such as meatworks, distribution centres, aged care facilities and health settings. He said the plan would be focused on industries where the virus had been known to spread rapidly, as well as industries where the population was particularly vulnerable."I can't rule out that we make participating in what would be broadly surveillance testing in higher risk environments [a condition] to allow those industries to get close to 100 per cent," he said.

On-the-spot fines of up to $1,652 for individuals, and up to $9,913 for businesses, apply to employers and employees who do not carry their worker permit when travelling to and from work.Saliva testing was trialled at some police stations to see if it would be an easier option for workplace testing.
