Melbourne-based Ross Perrett, 65, designs golf courses. His friend, Karrie Webb, 45, is Australia’s greatest female golfer. She helped him return to work following a debilitating stroke.Credit:I met Ross in passing many years ago, in my 20s. He was a well-known designer of golf courses all over the world, and business partner of Australian golf champion Peter Thomson [who passed away in 2018].

At some point the Indooroopilly Golf Club put out their tender, and I was really torn. I didn’t think work should be a priority for Ross, and I didn’t know how to broach that. I wanted to at least give him the option to pull out or go ahead, and he said “yes” straight away. I think it helped with his recovery to have something to work on and look forward to. We put the bid forward in October last year, and we won the job.

I don’t know if it’s a weakness, but Ross is a bit of a storyteller, so none of our meetings is fully on point. There’s always some story, and you wonder, “Why on earth is he telling me this?” But it always circles back around eventually, and has this applicable reference. It’s never boring, but it’s never short, either!I met Karrie more than 20 years ago at Melbourne’s Keysborough Golf Club, and she was obviously an incredible star of the game.

Margaret Court 'recognition' to be an awkward sideshow at Australian OpenThe recognition ceremony for Margaret Court at the Australian Open could be somewhat awkward, as Tennis Australia tries to do its own version of separating art from the artist. What the Left do well, wreck anyone or anything they disagree with, sad. It wouldn’t have been awkward if the media didn’t make it awkward. Just like this headline is preempting it. Putting up rainbow flags on her court to bait her. Remember the izzy settlement? You're allowed to have your own opinion in Australia.
