Former St Kilda and Essendon great Brendon Goddard has refused to back down on his suggestion that North Melbourne star Ben Brown is staging for free-kicks.
Goddard's comments while on commentary for ABC Grandstand raised eyebrows at the weekend, and he doubled down on his opinion on Fox Sports'"I don't think I'm just singling him out on one thing because on most occasions we look for a pattern of behaviour," Goddard said.Brown bounced back from a slow start to the season with four goals in the Kangaroos win over Adelaide
Goddard attracted some criticism following his comments, with some labelling him a hypocrite after it was uncovered that he was involved in an egregious case of flopping back in 2012. However, while admitting to his bad habit, Goddard said the incident in 2012 allowed him to change his ways."I had an episode back in 2012 where I admittedly staged, or tried to flop and exaggerate a free kick and the umpire at the time told me to stop it and that there was nothing in it.
