The Afghanistan Cricket Board said there has been no direct instruction that women's cricket is prohibited despite the Taliban previously condemning female participation in the sport.

The Afghanistan Cricket Board has claimed it has not received any direct communication from the Taliban restricting women’s cricket despite the hardline Islamist group saying it was"not necessary".its female employees and players were continuing their duties “normally” despite the Taliban’s takeover of Afghanistan adding that women were allowed to play sport as long as they adhered to an Islamic dress code.

Cricket Australia has stated it will have"no alternative" but to cancel plans to host Afghanistan at a proposed match in Hobart if women's cricket is no longer supported. Picture: Jordan Mansfield/Getty Images “We also request Australian authorities and the cricket board, they shouldn't give any statement before clarification,” he told SBS Pashto.

"We have kept the salaries and they are on our payroll. If the government decides that we don't go with the national women's team, we will have to stop it,” he said.

Afghan women at university will study separately from men, the Taliban sayThe new Taliban government says Afghanistan's education system had changed since their last time in power. But women will only be allowed to study in gender-segregated classes and Islamic dress enforced. Step back several centuries Might one propose that the only reason the Taliban demand separation between women and men is because they don't trust themselves to act in an appropriate manner around women which would make them the actual problem. Would be a good thing, however there is strong distrust of the Taliban remaining. Hope governments keep their collective eye on the ball.
