Construction on the Adani Carmichael coal mine will begin as soon as today, according to the company’s chairman. In an exclusive interview with Peta Credlin, Gautam Adani says many Indian-based organisations have been watching the progress of the Galilee Basin project, and its success could result peak interest in the area.
' Mr Adani says it was important his company worked with the government to reach this outcome, despite the many hurdles it had to face. 'You have to follow the processes; for the interest of the project and the nation,' he told Sky News. The approval is not without its critics, with many opponents of the project citing the company has overblown the number of jobs it will create and its potential environmental impact as reasons for opposition.

We are giving them free coal, free water and a free road. So we can subsidise India’s energy costs while power prices rise in Australia. Bloody perfect!
AStrongerOZ So why can’t Australia make itself energy secure, lefty snowflakes pushing renewables that are subsided by Govenments that pander to these loudmouth idiots who havn’t got an original thought in their heads
A good interview with Mr Adani and some on the ground stuff from India...I hope however you are not too arrogant to admit what a large role renewables will have in the power grid...fair enough if people want our coal and it is a good quality sell it to them.
No win sorry. Death jobs in a death industry. Setting tourism back years.
Congratulations Peta Credlin on tonight’s show. Very informative and well produced and balanced report
All the Green Left dickheads on here still trying to play it down, but then there’s not much call for knowing about mining projects when you line up at Centrelink every week for your ‘pay’.
1000’s of jobs in construction phase, not just for the mine, accommodating the workers, and as its 363Km from the coast, there’s an airport being built, port facilitity upgrades and ancillary staff like cooks, cleaners etc needed ongoing. It’s no different to any other project.
