The Albanese government is resisting calls to fast-track its childcare relief in the wake of announcing a $50 billion dollar improvement to the nation’s finances.

While Labor has conceded that childcare costs are crippling family budgets, it maintains its budget isn’t in a position to bring forward fee relief.

Following through on an election promise, the government has tasked the competition watchdog, the ACCC, to look into the spiralling cost of childcare.

Allow me to amend that headline to reflect reality... The Albanese government is resisting calls to fast-track its childcare relief in the wake of a trillion-dollar debt inherited from the coalition government. You're welcome.

Labour and AlboMP can't fast track anything, they will need to hold a summit talk fest first and spend millions on talk!!

ACCC’s probe into childcare costs to commence at the start of next yearEducation Minister Jason Clare has announced the ACCC’s probe into childcare costs will commence on January 1, 2023, and report back by the end of the year. “With the potential also to deliver an interim report that’ll guide the implementation of our legislation for cheaper childcare that starts on the first of July next year,” Mr Clare said during a media conference on Wednesday. Haven’t they already given a substantial amount of taxpayer funds to the childcare sector? Shouldn’t the ‘probe’ have happened before that?! Child care cost increases to be investigated by consumer watchdogThe government says its decision to launch an inquiry into rising child care costs next year is to make sure its spending targets the main causes of price hikes. Long overdue. From the APS employee perspective. Rorting was rife by the private sector and every increase of child care payments was met with OTT increase in fees. Essentially ransoming working parents. Aged care, Ndis and childcare! Pink bat's on steroids! And then what ? That mob are all flapping gums and zero bite.
