A spike in abusive Triple Zero callers has sparked an urgent warning from the Queensland Ambulance Service. 9News

More and more abuse is being hurled at Triple Zero operators just trying to do their job.

Her team takes thousands of Triple Zero calls everyday and she says the level of abuse from the public is rising. "The abusive ones can be the ones that you go home and think, what did I do wrong, like, how can I be better for them next time," she told 9News.Callers are reminded that questions from the operators do not delay the ambulance.

QAS staff say some callers need to be asked questions to determine the urgency of their medical needs.
