Aboriginal people ‘most incarcerated in the world’ | Sky News Australia

Social justice outcomes for First Nations people are “shocking” and Aboriginal people are the most incarcerated in the world, Shadow Indigenous Australians Minister Linda Burney says. Ms Burney told Sky News she won’t be attending any protest as her entire life has been about advocating for the rights of First Nations people.

“There are many ways that you can advocate about the issues of deaths in custody, and part of that, importantly, is dialogue that just shouldn’t happen when these things flare up – this is dialogue that should be going on all the time.” She said if people are going to attend protests, they need to examine the legal situation in the state or territory which vary drastically. “Make sure that you try and keep as safe as possible,” she said.
