The Australian Border Force says it will move convicted criminals and illegal immigrants to Christmas Island after coronavirus rules had put a strain on the country's corrections network. 9News

"The cohort being transferred consists of those who have been convicted of crimes involving assault, sexual offences, drugs and other violent offences.The last time the North West Point facility was used was for a quarantine centre for Australian citizens evacuated from Wuhan in China when COVID-19's global fallout began earlier this year.
