ABC’s coverage of Sydney Mardi Gras didn’t look ‘impartial’The Australian’s Media Writer Sophie Elsworth says the ABC’s coverage of Sydney's Mardi Gras didn’t look “impartial” to her. “I wonder how much they’re spending on this coverage and where’s the impartiality in the coverage?” Ms Elsworth told Sky News host Chris Kenny. “It didn’t look like impartial coverage to me - they were really getting into it; they’re meant to be newsreaders who are impartial, I thought.” Their ABC at it again. Perrottet’s ‘word salad’ response to Lidia Thorpe’s Mardi Gras stuntSky News host Paul Murray says when NSW Premier Dominic Perrottet was on the radio this morning, it seemed like he was “saying a whole lot of nothing” about the incident at the Mardi Gras parade with Lidia Thorpe. In a footage of Ms Thorpe, as police worked to remove her from the road, she can be heard yelling, “f**k the police” - authorities confirmed she will not be charged for the disruption. “How hard is it to turn around and say she’s ridiculous and anyone who abuses our police, I absolutely will not support them,” Mr Murray said. “And she’s not even a senator from New South Wales - why was she here at all? “Instead, this word salad.” Murray's been saying a whole lot of nothing his entire career. Perrottet was Treasurer, controlled the purse strings for Berejiklian and Barilaro remember that when voting. 😡

Censoring books ‘robs people’ of the opportunity to ‘have open discussions’Broadcaster and writer Esther Krakue says 'contentious bits' in books are points of discussion and make them 'come alive', with James Bond books now being rewritten to remove racist language. “It's really worrying because if you actually start censoring these books and start taking out bits and hiring sensitivity readers … you rob people of the opportunity to have open discussions about them,” Ms Krakue told Sky News host Andrew Bolt. “If there are contentious bits in a book, that’s a good thing because that’s a point of discussion, that’s what makes these books come alive. “But we’re clearly in an era where there is … an economy for sensitive readers.” Does it REALLY count as 'censorship' if the Ian Fleming Publications, the people who OWN the books, are just releasing new versions of the books? I mean, no one is taking away the books from the people who own them. I don't see it as a big deal at all.

Palaszczuk’s $700 a minute taxpayer funded Christmas party is ‘gobsmacking’Liberal Senator James McGrath says Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk spending $700 a minute on an invite-only Christmas party paid for by taxpayers is “gobsmacking”. “This is gobsmacking - we’ve got a cost-of-living crisis here in Queensland, parents can’t afford to send their kids to sporting events on the weekend,” Mr McGrath told Sky News host Peta Credlin. “But the Premier, who is this princess in the tower, is, let them eat cake, while she spends $700 a minute on a Christmas party - this is complete and utter BS.” The arrogance of her. ‘Narcissistic’ to think someone has the ‘right to not be offended’Broadcaster and writer Esther Krakue says it's “completely narcissistic” for anyone to think they “have the right to not be offended” when reading a book. This comes as James Bond books are now being rewritten to remove racist language. They have a right not to be offended just because someone else wants to compel them to be. That sounds the more narcissistic to me, compelling someone to think want you command them to Good point.

‘It’s all about catch-up’ in Lismore after disastrous floodsLismore Mayor Steve Krieg says it's 'all about catch-up' in the town one year on from the disastrous floods which hit the Northern Rivers. The city of Lismore was ravaged in February last year by the worst floods Australia has ever seen, leaving houses and city infrastructure damaged and houses unliveable. “The government has had to rewrite legislation and put these things in place which takes time, we get that,” Mr Krieg told Sky News Australia. “Hopefully, now that legislation is in place, things can pick up and people can get a bit of certainty around their futures.” Why did the local mayor and council allow buildings in a known flood plain ?
