OPINION: The pro-employee culture of tech giant Salesforce is under threat from activist investors and an economic downturn.

Salesforce is one of those companies that most people haven’t heard of but is important for a couple of reasons: the success of its products, and the way it treats employees.

Even Telstra, which is a customer, couldn’t really afford to build Salesforce-like computer programs. Salesforce can help companies communicate with customers reporting problems, collect and store their data, market their products over the internet, analyse the effectiveness of marketing spending and conduct internal communications. Salesforce owns Slack, a chat room for companies.
