A pro-Palestine rally is underway outside Town Hall in Sydney with attendance expected to climb up to 10,000 people before marching to Belmore Park.

Event organisers have been working closely with Sydney police over the past week to ensure the demonstration could be carried out peacefully as 800 officers are standing by. The crowd has assembled, chanting ‘free free Palestine’ with many banners calling for the violence in Gaza to end. Police have warned they will arrest anyone chanting antisemitism and have emphasised they are not afraid to deal with troublemakers.

Executive Council of Australian Jewry’s Alex Ryvchin said he believes in the right of assembly and has placed responsibility on the police and the NSW state government to ensure the protest remains peaceful.
