The Australian’s Graham Lloyd says it is fair to say there are “a lot of mixed messages out there” ahead of the October federal budget.

“Jim Chalmers has been overseas with some of the world’s financial leaders, and he is painting a pretty grim picture, on board with the advice that the best response is a responsible budget,” Mr Lloyd told Sky News Australia.

“Back home, Anthony Albanese – he is extending parental leave, staying committed to spending things that realistically were pledged during the election.
