An A-League Men match is abandoned after Melbourne City goalkeeper Tom Glover sustains a head injury when spectators stormed onto the playing surface at AAMI Park.

abc.net.au/news/a-league-men-match-marred-as-spectators-invade-pitch/101785430An A-League Men match has been abandoned after Melbourne City goalkeeper Tom Glover sustained a head injury when spectators stormed onto the playing surface at AAMI Park.

The spectators invaded the pitch during the City-Victory match and threw flares in the 22nd minute in what appeared to be a part of a protest over the decision to sell the A-Leagues' grand final hosting rights. He was hurriedly taken from the field to be treated, while the match was initially suspended as security officials attempted to remove the spectators from the playing area.

The APL's deal with Destination NSW — worth a reported eight-figure sum that will run until the end of 2025 — received significant backlash from football fans following Monday's announcement.

Soccer has gone backwards because of these selfish cowardly thugs who only try to focus on their needs instead of the game for all, I hope the police can locate them through the stadium cameras and the camera personnel equipment so they can be fine and have life bans against them

Violence and threats of violence are never acceptable. Perpetrators must be dealt with promptly and severely.

The question is where was the security to stop fans taking in “Flares”, in first place ? It will comeback on the soccer federation for not providing a safe place. You may find that they will van people from been behind the goal area all together.

Football is a sport that has all kinds of bad behaviour. Hopefully there aren’t many followers in Australia

. . All those losers whose mummies didn't let them play real footy when they were at school... Now they've grown up with psych problems. Good one, mums... . .

More Melbourne cultural enrichment.

Ban both supporters from future games for the season, video evidence of people who invaded the pitch, $10k fines for each person, $100 million fine for the security company that allowed flares till be bought into the stadium. Or your not serious…

What a load of sh*t THAT was at AAMI park? The thrower of the bucket should be banned for life and charged with assault. Lucky to be alive after a blow like that. All over GF allegations and of course..Money.

Were they remnants of the old Croat v Serb fights? Disgraceful.

Why does soccer have such thuggish supporters and why are flares allowed in Australian stadiums?

What a shame that 50 to 100 thugs/animals make a nearly 30.000 membership club look extremely bad!!! As a member I’m 100% against what these animals did tonight! DISGRACEFUL! Everything that can be thrown at these people still wouldn’t suffice!

Soccer, a game for gorillas and monkeys....

Both teams deduct -3 pts and these fans if identified should be ban for life. Embarrassing behaviour.

Where is the hysterical ABC commentary? Why are you protecting “white men” this time

How are flares so easily taken into the ground? Surely they can be detected by security prior to entry? The technology exists if they really wanted to stop them.

Yep. It sure is the ‘beautiful game’.

Disgusting behaviour

After he threw a flare into the crowd.

So backwards,no wonder football will never advance in this country

The irony of proving you’re actually unfit, ie for security, to host the finals you’re protesting about not hosting.

This is the kind of soccer we experienced in the UK. No place for this sport in Oz leave it to the hooliganism element over there - the only reason they go to the games.

thebeautifulgame not!

Males with small dicks trying to prove their masculinity

its startin to happen!!!! usa here in oz ! rwnjs rule ! we will all need a gun soon to be safe like in usa ! something has to be done quick to stop the spread of this shit .

Charge them criminally and set an example!

Well done MVFC fans - you are a bunch of thugs that ruined the protests that the rest of the supporters wanted to do peacefully.

Wtf? Are we resorting to the 1980's thuggery that plagued the game in Europe? Disgraceful. Whoever swung the bucket better be in remand awaiting charges.

The sport of hooliganism and fatalism!!!

Unaustralian behaviour, soccer is dead in Australia!

My Mum wanted me to play Soccer because Rugby was too violent.

Disgraceful.

The pitch invasion occurred when glover threw the flare into the crowd. On the broadcast they said glover had been taken to hospital, yet he was then embracing the referee with a Band-Aid on he head.

The melbourian ferals are at it again.

When the game is so boring, the fans will make their own 'excitement' 🤷‍♂️

Certainly don’t condone this behaviour, but the tensions have been high all week after the sport sold out most of the fans for dollars.

After an uplifting World Cup performance, what an own goal! Life bans to all involved minimum.

Embarrassing sport

green street hooligan idolisers killed professional soccer in our country tonight. utter lunacy.

Young men are ‘scared’ of approaching young womenLiberal Party Vice President Teena McQueen says young men are “scared” of approaching young women. “They no longer feel the freedom to just go up and ask them out or initiate conversation,” Ms McQueen told Sky News host Jenna Clarke. “They sit back and wait to be invited. There’s no natural coming together.” Probably because the guy gets his life destroyed and the girl gets a few million $ So the privileged wankers have to have their way with drunk women who can’t resist! For men nowadays getting involed with women at all is high risk/low benefit. Avoid and invest in cat food companies.
