The personal information of millions of current and former Optus customers has been compromised in a major data breach.

Sensitive information of up to nine million people was stolen in the cyberattack, including passport details, licence numbers, home addresses, birth dates and phone numbers.

Optus CEO Kelly Bayer Rosmarin released a statement saying, “We are devastated to discover that we have been subject to a cyberattack that has resulted in the disclosure of our customers’ personal information to someone who shouldn’t see it”.
