Workplace Relations Minister Tony Burke announced changes to the Australian Building and Construction Commission on Sunday as part of the Albanese government’s overhaul of the Building Code.
Mr Burke said the ABCC’s powers will be reduced to the “bare legal minimum” in preparation for the watchdog being abolished altogether as part of Labor’s Federal Election commitment. “He reckons this commission is just anti-union, too political, and Labor will do what the militant construction union the CFMEU has been demanding and get this watchdog off his back,” Mr Bolt said.
“So you might wonder, why is the Albanese government going out of its way to help this union first, above any other?
