The COVID pandemic has had a “great impact” on the record rate of Victorians leaving the state in 2021, according to The Australian’s National Editor Dennis Shanahan.

“The COVID pandemic has had a great impact on this, it’s having a great psychological impact on a lot of Australians,” Mr Shanahan told Sky News host Peta Credlin.

“It’s coupled with the same economic pressures that were occurring during the recession: high interest rates, property markets, prices getting out of control, difficulty with buying a house. “So people are naturally moving to areas where they can afford to buy a house – even if it is still difficult – so there are economic pressures on this.”

Just leaving this here to try and combat this piece of absolute, but predictable, shite from News Corp ...

Has a more

Yet more left NSW so why do you keep harping on about Victoria. Oh of course, ALP government. Yet it’s the LNP state that everyone is fleeing. Where’s that story

Bullshit!!!!!

yeah..nah...

Blah

Fake news.

Pity it's false. Net loss of population in Victoria is considerably less than in NSW.

And, over past 5 yrs Net Migration in AUS Pandemic (2021, 2020) + PrePandemic (2019, 2018, 2017) More Aussies moved INTO VIC than moved out. By contrast, ACT, NT, WA, SA & NSW had more people move out, than in NSW the worst Losing 1118,000 residents to other states; past 5 yrs

Until you read its from Sky nudes and the australian Then you say Pfft Dennis IStandWithDan

It wasn't due to the pandemic. People left because of Dan Andrews.

They all went to Queensland for the sun as they always have

Remember it was politicians and bureaucrats that locked down the country which caused all of this pain. Lockdowns did way more harm than covid.

You really don’t report the facts, do you SkyNews? Slap your anti-VIC bias down. ThisisNotJournalism

The facts for each state

Was it the pandemic? Or the way Andrews handled it?

Covid is not the reason they're leaving !! Its the corrupt management of the state

You meant obnoxious Dan Andrews’ response to the pandemic.

They had the worst lockdown? Beating Beijing

You muppets!
