Residents in Greater Sydney’s coronavirus lockdown should “expect a greater police presence” as the stay-at-home orders are extended for a further four weeks.

Premier Gladys Berejiklian on Wednesday announced the lockdown would continue until August 28, as her state recorded 177 new coronavirus cases.

The Premier also confirmed construction would be allowed to resume from Saturday and a singles bubble would be introduced, as three new local government areas in Sydney's west are plunged into tougher restrictions.
