7-Eleven forced to pay $173 million to underpaid workers | nickbonyhady

The Fair Work Ombudsman, which investigated the chain and its franchisees after the press revealed the scandal, found several franchisees were deliberately paying staff below legal wages and falsifying records to cover it up.The convenience chain has repaid the money after entering into an agreement with the Ombudsman in 2016 to clean up its act.

7-Eleven head office had an approach to industrial law that "while seemingly promoting compliance, didn't adequately detect or address" the issue, the ombudsman said in a statement.

nickbonyhady 'systemic underpayment' is wage theft. They literally stole money from employees. Call it what it is, theft.

Belgian hospitals forced into 'bad decision' of using doctors infected with COVID-19COVID-positive doctors and nurses are continuing to work in Belgian hospitals as a fresh wave of the pandemic creates an 'impossible' situation for the country's medical system. Just reflecting on all the journalists who wrote column after column saying how we should look to Europe/UK as a model for how to ‘manage COVID’.... But at least they cured the flu, 98% reduction in in numbers and flu death. Victoria should be able to rebuild the economy in short time by selling our Covid 19 expertise overseas.

PM tackles the NRL over Origin national anthem and forces a turnoverThe NRL attempted to swing the ball wide to skirt controversy - but just ended up turned around by none other than the Prime Minister. Peter_Fitz If people feel so strongly opposed to our national anthem, maybe they should look around the world for one they do like, and move to that country. Peter_Fitz I remember having to stand for the national anthem every time we went to the flicks. Silly then, silly now.
