Talkback radio stations 2GB and ABC Sydney have topped the final radio survey of the year, despite suffering a post-lockdown ratings drop.
After Tuesday’s results, 2GB remains Sydney’s number one radio station with an overall audience share of 14.5 per cent . It leads ABC Sydney and WSFM .Louise Kennerley Reflecting post-vaccination optimism , Tuesday’s final survey found listeners shifting away from the talkback stations that earned record-breaking numbers amid the lingering COVID lockdown earlier this year.
FM stations Triple J and Nova 96.9 recorded the survey’s strongest results, with the biggest swings going to Triple J’s drive slot hosted by Lewis Hobba and Michael Hing and Nova 96.9’s breakfast slot hosted by Ryan ‘Fitzy’ Fitzgerald and Michael ‘Wippa’ Wipfli . But despite the surprising swings in those key time slots, 2GB’s Ben Fordham dominated the breakfast period with an 18.5 per cent audience share and ABC Sydney’s Richard Glover led in drive with a 9.7 per cent audience share .“It’s an early Christmas present and we don’t take it for granted,” he said. “We don’t rest on our results. We’re already planning bigger things for 2022.”
