Ronwen Williams Celebrated At Awards Ceremony
Ronwen Williams of Mamelodi Sundowns during his side's DStv Premiership match against his former team, SuperSport United at Loftus Versfeld Stadium on 12 March 2024 in Pretoria, South Africa. Mamelodi Sundowns and Bafana Bafana shot-stopper, Ronwen Williams was one of the five recipients of the Minister’s Excellence Award at the SA Sports Awards.
The 32-year-old walked away with Best Goalkeeper award at this year's Africa Cup of Nations tournament in the Ivory Coast, where he captained Bafana Bafana to a bronze medal finish and made history by saving the most penalties , in a penalty shoot-up, during the quarter-finals against Cape Verde. Having already won the league, African Super League and the Nedbank Cup still to contest, it's been an accolade-filled season for the Gqeberha-born keeper.
