A dog named Emma fell through ice on a pond in Ravenna Township, Ohio. The Portage County Water Rescue Team responded and bravely rescued Emma from the frigid water.
RAVENNA TOWNSHIP, Ohio (WOIO) - They say dogs are a man’s best friend, and that care was reciprocated after Emma ventured out onto an icy pond and fell into the frigid water.The Ravenna Township Fire Department first responded to the 911 call when Emma fell through the ice, PCWRT stated. Rescue rs jumped in the bitterly cold water, broke through the ice to reach Emma, who was paddling around to stay afloat.
Portage County Water Rescue Team saves dog who fell through ice“You may ask why we respond to calls for animals in peril on or in ice situations, frantic owners or bystanders often will go out on the ice to try to save them and become victims themselves. If the ice can’t hold an animal it surely will not hold a human. The PCWRT will gladly assist in these rescues as we have the trained personnel, ice rescue suits and divers that are specially trained to dive under the ice in case a would-be rescuer goes through or under the ice.” Portage County Sheriff’s Office Marine Patrol Lt.
