CNN data analyst Harry Enten reveals a sharp decline in public confidence in Donald Trump's physical health, with only 44 percent of Americans now believing he is fit to be president, marking the first time a majority expresses doubt. The trend is driven by visible signs of aging and health concerns, despite White House defenses.
CNN senior data analyst Harry Enten has reported a significant shift in American voter perceptions regarding former President Donald Trump's physical health, with a growing majority expressing doubts about his fitness to serve.
Enten presented polling data showing a steady decline in the percentage of Americans who believe Trump's physical health is adequate for the presidency. The figure dropped from 64 percent in 2023 to 54 percent in 2025, and most recently fell to just 44 percent within the last month. For the first time, less than half of respondents now consider his health sufficient. This trend reflects a broader concern among the electorate, as voters increasingly observe visible signs that raise questions.
Trump, at 79, is on track to become the oldest sitting president in U.S. history. Observers have noted frequent appearances with unexplained dark bruises on his hands, which the White House has attributed to excessive handshaking and daily aspirin use.
Additionally, his age and historical comparisons to past presidents like Ronald Reagan, who faced scrutiny over mental acuity, amplify the discussion. While a majority (55 percent) now say Trump's health is not good enough, this is still lower than the peak concern for Joe Biden during his presidency (69 percent in 2024) but markedly higher than the concern for Reagan in 1987 (38 percent).
The White House has pushed back, with spokesperson Davis Ingle calling Trump the "sharpest and most accessible President in American history" and asserting he remains in excellent health. However, the data suggests voter anxiety is mounting, potentially influencing electoral dynamics as Trump campaigns for a return to office
