The German automotive supplier has reinvented the steering wheel with an innovative new airbag design
By relocating the airbag, ZF has opened the door to carmakers for innovative steering wheel design. Future steering wheels could have screens in the center. The parts supplier hasn't said when its new steering wheel airbag will hit the market. For decades, airbags have been positioned in the center of all steering wheels, but ZF has just unveiled a new steering wheel airbag that deploys from the top side of the wheel, allowing for more design freedom.

It has a seamless, uncluttered design, and like most cars, the buttons for the horn are still positioned in the center. Car companies could take this concept further.
