In the comic, Red Skull has tainted the minds of superheroes to destroy Washington D.C., necessitating the unaffected X-Force to come to the rescue. With even the Avengers under the spell of Red Skull, the members of X-Force more than have their hands full. Yet, Gambit and Polaris find the time to banter back and forth, with the Ragin' Cajun delivering this silly question. As high as the stakes are, Gambit doesn't have to completely lose his sense of humor as seen in this comic.
Gambit has a gift of getting to the heart of things. With training in the Thieves Guild, Gambit knows how to read people, something that pays off in his sometimes complicated relationship with his love, Rogue. He is able to decipher Rogue's distance as a result of her past and knows her well enough that as strong as she is, he won't let her push him away.
When Gambit is tasked with going to the Forever City, he sees that the evolution engine is still at work, especially when he notices the ominous sign of gigantic claw marks on a wall. To his surprise and unease, the machine has been transforming the local wildlife as well as some of the students of the E.S.U into evolved versions of themselves, making the animals all the more deadly.
Anyone who has the word "killing" in their name just spells disaster, especially when world domination is at their fingertips.
