to a since-deleted tweet with,"I don't have an 'emerald mine,' nor was I given free money from anyone, inheritance or otherwise. Ashlee Vance interviewed hundreds of people. Ask him." that the emerald mine inheritance rumor was false, and that he had arrived by himself in Canada in 1989"with ~CA$2,500.
to Reich to ask if he could provide evidence of his assertion, but did not receive a response before this story was published. In the post, he claimed that his family stood in opposition to apartheid, saying he went so far as to beas a Pretoria city councillor to aid that opposition."I was active in opposing the National Party and their apartheid," he said in the post.
His post ended with this:"Finally, it is necessary to acknowledge the wrong and oppressive nature of apartheid and we do need to recognise the pain and suffering it caused for many South Africans, but I do not feel it is fair to associate any of that with what Elon has achieved through hard work since he left South African shores as a teenager of 17.
Look at you Snopes, getting into conspiracy theories too and liking it. You just keep that up.
So Elon’s father did actually have a stake in an emerald mine that went bust in 1989 and his father did lend him 10% of ~$200,000 for his first venture according to this article. The fact he had student debt doesn’t dispute that. He has Twitter debt now as a multibillionaire.
So not only true but someone did a lot of shady things to remove these stories, articles and interviews from the internet.
Stacey Plaskett, who represents the U.S. Virgin Islands in the House of Representatives, eagerly accepted donations from Epstein after he registered as a sex offender.
South Africa had compulsory army service until 1994. Many young men left the country to avoid conscription. It could be deferred by going to university.
Always on the tip of the news... That's what says
Errol Musk bought 50% of the mine shares back in 1969 for about £40,000. Elon sold millions worth of emeralds and other precious stones to Tiffany's after immigrating to America. there's probably thousands of other investors for hundreds of other mines all over Africa
snopes has zero credibility after all these years of political pandering- A 7 minute deep smear piece about Elon's emerald mine in africa that took snopes a week to paper mâché together a bunch of social media gossip
what I read is 1.yes..his dad did own part of a mine during the time of apartheid..2. There’s family drama so we’ll never know how much he did or didn’t get from his dad (trump never told the truth about what he got from his dad either) 3. Musk is as boring as I always thought
Summary (1/2)
The article states that it has been updated, but there's no edit to say what the update was?
Really?
And just like that, your credibility is gone.
This is Elron himself in 2014:
Here is Elon boasting about his adventures on private planes, emerald mines and AK-47s.
It isn't a rumor when they've been talking to the press about it incl. Business Insider, Forbes and New Yorker.
However his wealth has accumulated from Republican tax policies. Moreover, someone should tell us how he got from Canada to America other than attending the Wharton School.
My favorite part, they asked those involved to comment, but only waited a day before publishing their article.
So Elon lived with his dad who did have a mine, multiple properties, thoroughbred horses, a yacht, a small private plane and bragged about having so much money they couldn't close the safe but Elon is still somehow a rags to riches self made man?....ok.
We have seen how accounts on Twitter being critical or satirical of Elon have been suspended. It’s not far out there to think he asked them to take those articles down. Hopefully get some more responses for a later update. Great article !
Cool, now all the annoying people can finally shut up
'We asked a con man if he was a second generation dirtbag and he said 'naw''
He and his brother did steal from their dad (who had 'so much money we couldn't close the safe') and sold stuff, which taught them some... Lessons bastardspod Also M*sk lied about his qualifications.
jordanliles Um, not saying this “investigation” is not correct, but what happened to like going to a library and looking up records and stuff. The whole article is referencing Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter. Maybe just go to a library or government records office in South Africa?
why doesn't anyone just ask him
I waded through this whole thing but I wish you would draw out the facts of the matter better. All I get is that most of Elon's statements about the emerald mine have been lies or exaggerations, and most of his denials about the emerald mine have been lies or exaggerations.
Snopes is not trustworthy. Bias opinion checking. Not fact checking.
Fucking immigrants eliminating American jobs.
Apartheid wasn't slavery. What is the problem with owning an emerald mine?
Huh. Legitimately thought this was just one of those 'everyone knows that' things, and didn't know it was nearly as muddy as it actually seems to be. Well, at least we can rest assured that Musk is still a terrible person as demonstrated continually by his own words and actions.
And Errol had a baby with his step-daughter 🤢
