It’s only the most obvious contribution by the ‘team mom.’Bishop Noll’s Isabella Garcia and Sophia Nowacki go up to block against Merrillville’s Kimora Douglas during a match in Merrillville on Monday, Oct. 2, 2023.
“She’s very businesslike on the court, and that’s good because some of them tend to be a little goofier on the court,” Rodriguez said. “When you get to sectionals and regionals or farther, you have to be laser-focused.” The situation is reflected in the numbers. Garcia is the only senior among the Warriors’ statistical leaders.
“She just has this positive attitude about her all of the time that radiates to everyone else,” Nowacki said. “She’s someone we can look to who’s a friend as well as a teammate. She holds us accountable, but she always knows what to say when we make a mistake.”Garcia declined to take all the credit for how she’s handling this role. She attributed many of her leadership qualities to playing with 2023 Bishop Noll graduate“She was basically my big sister,” Garcia said.
