The Maersk Saltoro, cargo ship involved in the collision with Key Bridge in Baltimore last month, has been boarded by US authorities conducting a court-authorized investigation. The Justice Department alleges that the vessel owners and operators recklessly disregarded electrical problems leading to the incident.

In statements, spokespeople for the FBI and the U.S. Attorney's Office in Maryland confirmed that authorities boarded the Maersk Saltoro. The ship is managed by Synergy Marine Group.

The Dali cargo ship that collided into the Key Bridge in Baltimore has been refloated and is on its way back to the port Monday morning. In its lawsuit, the Justice Department argued that vessel owners and operators need to be “deterred from engaging in such reckless and exceedingly harmful behavior."
