One terrifying scene in the The Mummy was even more frightening for those on set to film it. First releasing in 1999, the reboot of The Mummy franchise proved to be a major success as it came across as a light-hearted and family-friendly series that was full of action.
As the reboot derived from Universal Pictures' classic monster franchise of the 1930s and '40s, it shouldn't come much of a surprise that The Mummy series contained several horror elements. Those traditional monster films were tied more to the horror genre, but shared some of the campiness that made the '99 reboot so fun. One scene in the reboot particularly brought out the horror aspect of the film, and viewers weren't the only ones who were afraid by it.

Not only is Imhotep wrapped from head to toe in bandages, but he also had a bucket of scarabs poured into the coffin with him, so they could eat him alive. This scene was particularly troubling for Arnold Vosloo as he revealed that he struggled with getting through that scene.
The scene freaked out the actor, who played the film's villain. He revealed in a 2001 interview with Moviestar: "They wrap me up and bury me," the actor laughs. "There may only be 10 seconds where I’m actually wrapped up. It may be the worst thing I do in the movie. It was just awful; they wrapped me tight in bandages and put me in a coffin. The shot took 20 seconds to do, but it was a weird feeling.
