Noah Schnapp, Will Byers on Stranger Things, reveals that he has taken on a summer job as a lifeguard, the perfect call-back to the Netflix show.
Stranger Things star Noah Schnapp reveals he has taken on a summer job, and it's hilariously perfect. Following a series of delays due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Stranger Things finally returned to screens this summer for its long-awaited season 4. The much-loved 80s-inspired sci-fi show has become one of Netflix's biggest hitters since it was first released in 2016, telling the story of Hawkins, Indiana, a fictional town plagued by a series of strange paranormal occurrences.
SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY It is centered around a core group of friends led by Millie Bobby Brown's Eleven, earlier seasons of Stranger Things focused on Schnapp's character, Will Byers. Having been the main focus of season 1 after he disappeared into the terrifying alternate reality, the Upside Down, Will established a connection with the terrifying creatures that reside there.
It’s kind of a ‘just for fun thing,’ thing, I’ve kind of grown up with a normal life and normal friends and stuff outside of Stranger Things, so it’s kind of kept me grounded. Those familiar with Stranger Things will undoubtedly see why Schnapp's choice of summer job is amusing. Stranger Things season 3 saw another central character, Billy , take on a similar position within the show, ultimately playing a crucial part in the character's role that season. Its evident that maintaining an everyday life, separate from his time on Stranger Things, is important to Schnapp, who revealed that he was accepted into the University of Pennsylvania.
While Schnapp's summer gig certainly makes for a sweet call-back to Stranger Things season 3, it's understandable why the young star would want to experience the more conventional parts of growing up. Having spent the last six years working on Stranger Things, which he began filming when he was around 11, it's certainly heartwarming to hear that the actor is so interested in taking on a more 'normal' job, even if just for a short while.
