Though already having haunted her young counterparts, Rugrats’ Angelica Pickles is even more terrifying as she becomes possess in The Exorcist crossover art. Angelica was one of the main characters in the Nickelodeon series, which ran for nine seasons from 1991-2006.
SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY The Exorcist, on the other hand, exists in an entirely different entertainment sphere in the horror movie genre. The film, based on William Peter Blatty's novel of the same name, came out nearly two decades before Rugrats did, hitting theaters in 1973. Though featuring a younger protagonist as its central character like Rugrats with Regan MacNeil, The Exorcist is far from a children’s film.
Although unexpected, the Rugrats and Exorcist crossover art could be a nostalgic blend for fans of both franchises, with those who saw The Exorcist in theaters unlikely to have watched the animated series on their own volition, but perhaps some have watched with their own children. Beyond these initial fans, Rugrats has also gained a new fan base with its Paramount+ revival that aired in 2021. Rugrats has earned a season 2 renewal, which has yet to have a concrete release date.
