) at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, is actively looking for a highly motivated Postdoctoral Fellow to join our exciting journey to probe and decode long-term cellular activities and changes underlying learning, memory, and aging in living mouse and human brains via technology breakthroughs.

We are at the intersection of the Medical School, Neuroscience Institute, Biomedical Engineering, and Biosciences Initiative at the University of Michigan, and provide a unique and world's top and prestige interdisciplinary research and training environment. We offer excellent professional development programs for transitions to career independence. The successful applicant will develop and/or apply new technologies based on molecular and/or optical innovations to probe and decode long-term cellular activities and changes underlying learning, memory, and aging in living mouse and human brains. The successful applicant will also work in a multidisciplinary and collaborative setting with scientists, engineers, and clinicians in and outside the University of Michigan. Prior experience in mouse brain in vivo experiments is preferred but not required.Dr. Changyang Linghu is an Assistant Professor in Cell and Developmental Biology at the University of Michigan Medical School and a faculty member of the Michigan Neuroscience Institute, Single Cell Spatial Analysis Program in the Biosciences Initiative, and the Department of Biomedical Engineering at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. He obtained a Bachelor of Engineering from Tsinghua University and received his Ph.D. from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology working with Dr. Ed Boyden. The Spatial Biodynamics Lab he leads is on a mission to understand the principles of how molecular dynamics and cellular activities drive fundamental brain functions, such as computation, learning, and memory, via the development and application of novel technologies to monitor and interrogate cell physiology in the living brain. His recent works are published in Cell, Nature Biotechnology, Neuron, and Nature Communications. He is the recipient of NIH Director's New Innovator Award , MIT Technology Review's Global 35 Innovators Under 35 , Glenn and AFAR Junior Faculty Grant , Chan Zuckerberg Initiative Collaborative Pairs Pilot Project Award , Whitehall Foundation Three-Year Research Grant , GenScript Life Science Research Grant , Bioengineering in Brain Cancer Challenge Seed Fund Award from UMich , Spatial Analytics of Cancer Challenge Seed Fund Award from UMich , Biological Sciences Scholar from UMich , MIT Spot Award , MIT Technology Review 35 Innovators Under 35 China , Bioengineering Rising Star Speaker from Princeton University , J. Douglas Tan Postdoctoral Fellow , McGovern Graduate Fellow , and MIT Presidential Fellow . We are on a mission to unravel emergent properties of cell populations that drive essential mammalian brain functions, via scalable and multiplexable interrogation of cell physiology in vivo.I'd like to receive career advice, updates and information from Nature Careers and Nature Portfolio, part of Springer Nature Limited. When you apply for a job we will send your application to the named employer, who may contact you.
