Padres' Chairman expresses optimism as he watches his team's first victory in more than a week
“All right, time for Soto to go deep,” Seidler said as Juan Soto walked to the plate in the sixth inning Saturday at Great American Ball Park.
“I know we’re going to be good,” he said. “We’re gonna have every chance to be in the mix for the World Series every single year. And so that gives me some kind of serious long-term comfort. We’re not going to reverse course. We’re always gonna adjust. … All my focus now is on this year, because I’m as solid as I can be on the year after and two years after and three and the next decade.
He pointed toward the field and continued: “This is a joy. It really is. And I lean into the losing, because I want to reverse it so bad. I want to learn what I can and ask the right questions. But these guys are giving their all.” Seidler, speaking on the topic almost 24 hours after Preller, joined Preller in endorsing manager Bob Melvin.
