The post starts with a shot of a rainbow and Black singing in the background. He then proceeds to enter a trailer marked “Steve,” before ending the video with a shot of Steve on the window and of Black with a wide smile on his face. Minecraft originally went into production in 2014. Earlier versions of the script followed a teenage girl and her friends as they tried to save their world from an ender dragon. It isn’t clear as to how much of that original script remains since it was rewritten by Chris Bowman and Hubbel Palmer. Filming was delayed due to the SAG/AFTRA strike, but recent updates suggest that the strike did not prevent the film’s principal photography from being completed.
Black is part of the talented Minecraft cast. So far, Jason Momoa, Danielle Brooks, Jennifer Coolidge, Kate McKinnon, Jemaine Clement, and Wednesday breakout star Emma Myers have been announced as the official cast. Most of the roles are still undisclosed, as only Black and Brooks’ Steve and Dawn, respectively, are the only characters revealed. Furthermore, Black's recent video comes after conflicting reports about who would play the protagonist, Steve.
