Almost 50 square miles on Lake Oroville’s west shore was under evacuation order for the Thompson Fire.
The fire was reported around 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 2, along the Feather River about 3 miles downstream of Oroville Dam. By Wednesday morning, it had burned 3,002 acres , said the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection.
