During the extradition hearing, the judge will rule on the next steps for him to return to New York to face the indictment. In New York , Mangione faces 11 counts, including murder in the first degree.
He faces a sentence of life in prison without the possibility of parole if convicted. A Manhattan grand jury on Tuesday indicted Mangione for murder as an act of terrorism in the death of Thompson on December 4 in New York, along with other weapon and forgery charges. Prosecutors accuse the 26-year-old of killing Thompson “in furtherance of an act of terrorism”
